BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES

In the wake of George Floyd's death and the nationwide protests against racial injustice and police brutality, it's important not to give up on the momentum and continue the fight to dismantle systemic racism in our society. There is an outpouring of support to organizations such as the George Floyd Memorial FundMinnesota Freedom Fund, and Campaign Zero, but our work should not stop here, or with merely an Instagram post or a hashtag.

Continue the #BlackLivesMatter conversation with those around you and further your own education by diving into this reading list by Black authors. In addition, an actionable way to support is to shop from Black-owned businesses—not just today, but every day. If you're not sure where to begin, I’ve rounded up a few Black-owned brands, from the fashion and beauty space to home and wellness! Also, check out www.blackownedbrooklyn.com.

Quarantine Vlogs - The Start of Simply Gharib on Youtube

Video Blogs shortened to vlog;

(/vlɒɡ/), is a form of blog for which the medium is video.

I’ve thought of starting a Youtube account for a while but never took the plunge. Mainly because I could never think of video ideas, but with the whole family under one roof for self-quarantine, I figured vlogs would be fun! I’ve shown my Instagram following a peek into our daily lives, my dad’s silliness, my siblings playing their video games, my husband and I running errands. Daily moments that I think of as boring but it’s a form of connection, we all feel similarly, we’re all dealing with changes, some of us are with our own families or missing them. Vlogs have been an interesting way to document the little moments during such a strange time — little bit of silliness, little bit of banter, a whole lot of family time.
